Season 1 Blog Retrospective.
Well this is unexpected. 3 blogs in one month, my poor planning still triumphs through the darkness of attempted organization.
This is the 2022 Season 1 Blog Retrospective. The key to growth is not to blindly push forward, but to look back at where we started, and to learn from that.
It's important to keep track of your progress, not only to see how far you have grown but also how far you are going to need to grow. Every fight I make has something unique about it , from being a celebration or an exploration into a new topic , so this can also allow me to easily see what things I like and dislike.
I would like to take a look at my past blogs and do a little bit of a ranking from worst to best, then discuss a few of my future plans and then wrap things up for this crazy year.
A deep reflection into oneself….you know…for fun.
Shall we begin?
Part 1 : Ranking from least favourite to favourite:
Number 14 :
Spiderman VS Batman ( Marvel VS DC )
was always going to be at the bottom. Is that any surprise?
It's very short and not very in depth , it makes assumptions that the reader knows certain information, i.e. Green Lantern's speed or Rhino's strength , etcetera. My utter refusal to use a full-stop instead of a comma leaves many sections unbearably tough to read.
I had trouble understanding it and I was the one who wrote it.
It is objectively the worst.…and I'm kind of glad that it is. It helped establish a foundation on what I would like to do with my blog, the format and the discussion, the connections between the characters and others.
Compare this blog to my end of year finale or even the Christmas special and the difference is night and day.
Could you imagine if I didn't grow through the 1.5 years I have been doing this? This kicked off this little passion project of mine where I can nerd out about dumb things like "Who would win between a teenager powered by a watch and a Space Cop powered by a ring?".
It's the thing that started this little area for me to freely express my thoughts, so how could I hate it?
Number 13:
The dream team VS The Muffin trio ( MCYT vs MCYT )
was my first team fight and my first blog in celebration of another event. I like the idea of the schedule thing, it sets a time where I have to post my blogs and stops me from constantly meddling with it after posting.
It helped me set a schedule for when I post my blogs…..which I didn't follow for 5 months…..
I like the match-up. Team fights are fun to do even though they are a pain to do and I really like talking about some of my favorite minecraft youtubers ( Even though the connections are literally "Minecraft Trios", in that case I could have used other more thematic trios, like The Dream Team vs The Bench Trio. ).
It's short, by far my shortest at only 700. However it is only 300 words shorter than Spiderman VS Batman while only discussing practically one statistic ; Skill.
I really like doing team fights with Minecraft characters. Their strength, speed, gear, etcetera, are all equal and only leaves a few categories left to discuss.
I've tried doing the Avengers VS the Justice League as the first team fight before, and I really didn't like it. "I think Green Lantern beats Ironman. Source? Trust me broooo". Out of the 14 characters I planned to use, i have only ever discussed 2.
It's a nice thought, but I need a lot more preparation before I can even touch that. I haven't even discussed the higher tiers of Marvel yet.
In execution, being my second fight , I don't think I really did that too well. I didn't even fully research A6d. I still think my outcome was correct , but for researching 6 characters ,I think I could have done better…..actually I have already done better. See "SBI VS Muffinteers" for an example. For my first exploration into MCYT , I think I did pretty well. Being shorter also makes it sweeter and less...hard to read.
Number 12:
Omniman VS Magneto (Invincible VS Marvel Comics)
might be a surprise to some of you out there , but I have it at my number 14 spot.
I just find this one very sloppy. I forgot that February only had 28 days…which left me to finish this blog in 2 days…and it shows…
The connections are kind of bad, probably because I made them myself. It's just "Bad Fathers + Villain recruiters + Villain turned hero." with very vague links between both of them.
Some of my information I got wrong, like the size of the Marvel universe. I'll probably cover that eventually. Basically the Marvel Universe is not 100 trillion light years in Diameter….that's DC…..
You can tell that I didn't do enough research, and consequently was very unconfident in my explanations. I might have gone too far….
Magneto can already win with his own feats. He has punched Ironman with the force of the sun and flew across the galaxy in a single comic. That alone is enough to win.
Instead I put Multiversal Magneto against Planet level Omniman with a difference of over 10 Unvigintillion times more powerful.
Thats this :
10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 ( 67 zeros )
Magneto has tons of powers through electromagnetic manipulation like energy manipulation and manipulating blood and all of that. Omniman is a "I just got to punch him...really hard" kind of guy.Basically I didn't do enough research, and I think even then I could have done the blog a lot better.
Number 11:
Camp Camp trio VS Luca trio (Camp Camp VS Luca)
is not a bad episode per say, it's just not as developed as the other episodes.
The connections are eh, they're acceptable for being the 3rd blog I've posted.
The answer is also quite obvious. David and Niki have both walked off falling off cliffs, Luca and Alberto nearly die from falling on a rock. Camp Camp has 4 seasons worth of content, Luca has 1 Movie.
The research is good, and the episode labeling thing I quite enjoy, even though images work better.
Nothing much to say here, I enjoyed both shows.
Number 10:
Max VS Phil eggtree ( Camp Camp VS Riddle School )
falls under a similar description as the previous placement.
Good research, fine connections and improvements upon the previous blog featuring Camp Camp. Riddle School is a great series but I don't really have anything planned for it…like at all.
We start to reach the middle section, where I don't have much to say.
Number 9:
Superboy VS Deku ( Detective Comics VS Boku No Hero Academia )
At least this time I learned from "Magneto VS Omni Man '' and put Superboy at planet level instead of Solar System + .
Nothing much to comment on this episode. It was fun to research, and fun to make. I definitely want to put Deku into another matchup again, preferably something closer. Deku has a ton of really interesting matchups that I will like to discuss eventually.
Jon is also a great character, I really want to bring him back for a rerun eventually.
Number 8:
Green Lantern VS Ben 10 ( Detective Comics VS Ben 10 )
should belong higher on the list….if I didn't make an editing mistake and accidentally reposted the first 500 words or so at the beginning of the blog…..not a good look.
Disregarding that , I think this is still quite a good blog. I had to do tons of research into both sides and the verdict kind of surprised me.
I would like to cover Ben 10 again, not only as a character but as a franchise, and see how they fair with updated research. I think the research here is good, and the verdict here is correct (Even more so after "Superman VS Goku", Green Lantern with calcs alone is a billion times stronger and a septillion times faster with his own feats alone), but I think I can go into more depth with him.
I've watched far too many episodes of the show and read far too many threads from people analyzing the show to have only one blog on the series.
Overall it is a good episode, though I should have probably waited until after "Superman VS Goku" so that I could have used more feats and images.
Number 7:
Callahan VS Heracles ( Dream SMP VS Greek Mythology )
is a pretty good example of what I want to do with the future of this blog. A nice mix of photos and words , without going too hard….like with the 300 images I used for Goku VS Superman.
It is a pretty fun blog. I get to nerd out a bit of Creative Mode Minecraft and Greek Mythology which is pretty fun.
Callahan supremacy pog?
Number 6:
Flash VS Sonic ( Wally West VS Archie Comics )
is a pretty good blog in my eyes. Plenty of research went into this and trying to understand both worlds….actually more of the world of Archie Sonic. The DC Universe might be extremely weird at times, but the Archie Universe is weird all the time.
This was a really fun blog to research, I can't wait to cover another DC Speedster or Archie Sonic character.
Number 5:
Technoblade VS Deadpool ( Dream SMP VS Marvel Comics )
probably shouldn't be this high. The connections are strong but the research is strong if not outdated.
The result still should be the same though. The stats difference actually increased with Techno having a big edge, and Deadpool's newer gear is kind of non-standard. I will probably bring back these characters, or at least characters who scale to these characters, so I'll discuss it then rather than here.
It's high simply because it's one of my favorites. The research period was one of the most enjoyable, with Technoblade being one of, if not my favorite youtuber of all time, and Deadpool being a giant walking meme.
I do have a small gripe with it, it does feel more like "Technoblade featuring Deadpool" rather than "Technoblade VS Deadpool" with a lot of my focus being placed on one side rather than both.
Technoblade is a massive Chad so I'm kind of fine with that. Blood for the blood god.
Number 4:
Spiderman VS Batman 2 ( Marvel Comics VS Detective Comics )
I made a remaster of this episode and its already outdated. ;-;
I'll probably cover the statistics again eventually, there are so many DC Street tiers and Spidermen that I want to cover.
It's a great remaster of the original episode, covers 2 absolute chads and conveys my thought process pretty well.
Number 3:
Dream VS Joker ( Dream SMP VS Detective Comics )
Similar to Bruce, Joker has been bumped up to Small Town. I will likely cover that eventually.
Technoblade has also been given upgrades, so Dream still has the strength advantage.
I will likely cover both series again eventually.
This one was fun. I enjoyed recovering Minecraft again and this one was really fun to research with all the things about the Joker Toxin and what Dream can do about it.Number 2:
Muffinteers VS Sleepy Bois Inc (MCYT VS MCYT)
This was 100% the most fun to research out of any blog.
"Superman VS Goku" was fun as in I could collect images for the feats, but this one just allowed me to watch so many of my favorite Minecraft youtubers just having fun.
"Superman VS Goku" might be the highest quality, but if I had to pick out which blog symbolized the heart of my blog the best? This one, without a hint of doubt.
Number 1:
Superman VS Goku (DC Comics VS Dragon Ball)
is the best blog I have made. It has the most research, it has the most detail, it took the most effort, etcetera.
It's objectively the best. No competitions. No questions.
It was also really fun to do. My blog creation process has early become much more efficient compared to the beginnings. I cannot imagine how long it would take to save over 300 images pasted into blogger.
This blog took over 8 months to make, and was 10 years in discussion. I spent years going back and forth between who would win, and debating with not only other people, but also myself on who would win. I probably went mad already.
I think it was done well, had ridiculous amounts of research and time put into it , categories like skill and intelligence which I typically like to leave short are still detailed and in depth, and not to mention the amount of images I placed into this.
Draft 1 of the blog had 150 images and 3000 words. The Final Draft of the blog had over 300 images and 6000 words….
Character development go brrr
What have we done :
In this retrospective of 14 episodes, I have introduced 12 series in total.
From most appearances to fewest appearances:
Minecraft : 7
DC Comics : 7
Marvel Comics : 4
Camp Camp : 2
Dragon Ball : 1
Archie Sonic : 1
Boku No Hero Academia : 1
Invincible Comics : 1
Greek Mythology : 1
Ben 10: 1
Riddle School: 1
Luca: 1
So quite a lot of Marvel and DC so far….and that number is probably going to grow. What can I say? I'm a big fan of Marvel and DC and I'm very familiar with how powerful they are. When diving into new series, I do like to use them as a vessel for exploration and discussion. (Like how I introduced Technoblade through Deadpool or Ben 10 through Green Lantern)
I have already explored the Heralds of the DC universe through people like Superman, Wally West and Hal Jordan, but I haven't explored the Heralds of the Marvel side.
Don't fret. I know exactly where to start.
I have used Minecraft quite a bit. To be fair, 4 of the times I have used them they were fighting another Minecraft character, so that's kind of fair.
I don't have any new plans for Minecraft characters next year, I still need to look for matchups for them. There is one that does interest me but I need to look deeper. We'll see with time. No promise of any Minecraft Matches next year.
I don't plan to use Camp Camp, Mythology, Luca or Riddle School anytime soon. I like these series, but I have literally 0 plans for them to return, and 0 ideas on how they can return. Maybe a Mythology battle? I've heard " Odin VS Zeus ( Norse Mythology VS Greek Mythology ) " is a popular one but I'm not too familiar with Norse Mythology yet, and I'm still grey with a lot of the Greek Mythology. Maybe in the future, but definitely not next year.
I am 100% going to be using more Dragon Ball characters next year. Dragon Ball is a series that I really like and there are a lot of opportunities for me to tap into for next year. I've been saving a lot of my Dragon Ball Matchups for until after "Superman VS Goku" dropped.
Archie Sonic is in the same boat as Dragon Ball. I've only used it once in "Flash VS Sonic" and I've been waiting for another opportunity to read into the Archie Universe. Either Archie Shadow or Archie Knuckles to appear next year, if all goes according to plan.
Invincible was a series that I did promise to cover again this year, but plans changed a little and I wanted a bit of time before I covered it to really get in sync with both series that I wanted to cover. An Invincible matchup is 100% coming next year.
I'm definitely going to bring back Boku No Hero Academia next year….though I don't have any nex characters planned yet. I plan to bring back Deku since he has gotten a lot more powerful since I last used him…and I also don't want to use him against someone who is over a undecillion times stronger than him.
I'm not too sure I'll cover Ben 10 next year. I do have a match up that I would like to cover his series in, but I'm not sure if I like its placement in next year's line up. Doesn't vibe right. I'll cover Ben 10 eventually, but not for at least another year.
What's next :
As much as I like the series that I have covered, I do want to expand out into new series.
Steven Universe and Mob psycho 100 are series that 100% are getting covered later next year. I already have matchups planned for them and I really like their series.
I would like to cover a new game series. I could try covering Mario and Sonic but…I've seen how confusing that is. Perhaps Undertale? Undertale has been a series I've been wanting to cover for quite a bit of time but the opportunity hasn't posed itself, though I think I have found a match up I like for it.
The boys is a phenomenal series that might or might not come next year. I have a lot of match ups that I want to do with them, but I don't have one I want to do with Homelander yet. I have matchups for Soldier Boy, Comic Black Noir, Comic Billy Butcher and maybe even Queen Maeve and the whole Seven….but the boys is a series where if you want to start covering it , it feels wrong to not start with Homelander. All their scaling comes from Homelander and he's kind of the one everyone knows most. It feels wrong to not start with him.
One Punch Man is a series that is….coming next episode actually…though not with One Punch Man himself though. Saitama is a character that needs a bit more attention.
I would also like to cover the MCU and DCEU eventually. And also…
Okay maybe not……but it would be funny….yet again I have to watch the entire TV show, is it worth it?....
Yes.
Eventually.
Next time?
Right. I didn't put in the next time. I wanted a few more days to decide on what I wanted to cover next. A new series would be nice and I really want to cover another DC Speedster.
Godspeed VS Cosmic Garou ( Detective Comics VS One Punch Man)
So we'll be back next month, with speed that angers god.
Final Note :
I just want to say a massive thank you for the year. It's been a tough one, with a lot of ups and downs , with success and loss woven between.
Through it all I still managed to come back to this little platform to just nerd out. I'm capable of expressing something I enjoy where I can't in other areas.
It's been one crazy year, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Thank you. To a prosperous year ahead.
