Cosmic Garou VS Godspeed ( One Punch Man VS DC Comics )

Both started off as normal people who became angry with the systems of their world (Garou hates how the less popular were treated poorly and abused while Godspeed hates that the police let his brother’s killer walk free). This would lead to them developing their distrust and distaste towards the world of heroes, believing that they aren’t doing their job correctly. They believe that the justice that the world believes in is wrong and they need to step in to correct things. Both would become close to and be trained by one of the top heroes of their world, Bang and Barry Allen. They would be trained in similar techniques to these heroes (Garou learning the Fist of Flowing Water Crushing Rock from Bang and Godspeed learning how to better control the Speed Force thanks to Barry). However, both would betray the person who trained them and would brutalize their other students (Garou beating up everyone in the dojo before he left and Godspeed fighting and even killing some other Speedsters). They would then go on a spree of terror, brutalizing heroes and punishing people who they believed deserved it. During this, they were slowly getting stronger and “stealing” something, with Garou taking the techniques that he sees from the people he fights and Godspeed stealing the Speed Force from other Speedsters to get faster. They would then proclaim themselves as the people who would change the world and act as judges for what they see as unfair (Garou proclaiming himself as the Absolute Evil that will give out fear unbiasedly and Godspeed saying he is the judge, jury, and executioner). All this time their mentors are trying to track them down and stop them. However they are having some conflicting emotions, with Bang caring deeply for Garou and wanting to help him and Barry being sad that he has to fight his friend. The first confrontation with their mentor goes somewhat in their favor (Garou being able to escape from Bang and Godspeed makes Barry retreat). Despite their evil actions, they both are good people at heart and only do the things they do because of their views and circumstances. Garou is the way he is because of the abuse he faced as a child, he felt that it was unfair that the monsters always lost in his shows despite trying so hard. Godspeed is the way he is due to the death of his brother, his brother was shot on duty by a criminal but because the evidence found to put him in jail was destroyed he was set free. In their own ways, they’re fighting against what they consider unfair but along with that, they’re lashing out due to the pain that they faced.

• Both would help the heroes in a fight much to their surprise (Garou helped Metal Bat fight off the Elder Centipede and Godspeed helped Barry fight Gorilla Grodd).Both would get involved with an extremely powerful being (God and Paradox respectively), who would offer them something that they wanted (God offering Garou the power to become the ultimate evil and Paradox offering to show Godspeed who killed his brother). To get these things they would have to kill others which they decided to do. However, they would later go against these beings and help the heroes make things right.

• Both would end up dying (Garou being killed by God and Godspeed being killed by Reverse Flash), but due to the heroes messing with time they came back to life, with Saitama traveling back in time using Garou's technique and punching God’s power out of Garou, and Barry Allen resetting Reverse Flash and then traveling back into the 25th century where it’s shown that Godspeed is alive. They would then go on to become better people and try to improve in their own ways.

• Both are known in their worlds for their extreme speed, even blitzing some of the fastest characters in their world (Garou being able to blitz the fastest hero Flashy Flash and Godspeed being able to outspeed the Flash).

•  They both have powers related to gods and named things after them: Garou naming his ultimate fighting style Monster Calamity God Slayer Fist and Godspeed naming himself, well Godspeed.

Ground Rules :

Same as always. 

No outside help. No outside non-standard gear. They will be in character. They will be given their high end feats. 

Let's get started. 

Strength: 

Cosmic Garou and Saitama managed to clash attacks hard enough to create a " SERIOUS PUNCH² " to leave a massive void in this panel. 

Given the assumption that they are destroying galaxy bodies, this has been calculated to Multi-Galaxy level. 

Meanwhile Godspeed can scale to Barry and Wally West. 

Who took the imploding of the Big Bang. 

E-Tier Speedsters like XS ( Jenni Ognats ) could threaten the stability of the Universe even before reaching light speed. 

He should also scale to Wally's and Barry's race, which was threatening to tear apart the entire DC Multiverse just by running. 

We've already covered how the DC Universe is 1.2 Billion times the size of ours. Even ramping up Cosmic Garou to universal , Godspeed will still be 1.2 Billion times stronger. 

Speed:

For speed, Saitama and Garou were able to jump around Jupiter's Moon "lo" in a single panel. 

Once again I don't have to calculate this, since people have already done the calculations for me. 

By counting….pixels….each pixel….each and every single one…..

Suddenly I'm really grateful that there are people willing to do this.

Depending on the time frame,there are different calculations of speed. 

If going by the original 13 milliseconds as stated in the comic, Cosmic Garou can travel 617 times the speed of light.

If the shockwaves are actual light as stated, this reaches at maximum 18 trillion times the speed of light. [ 18497547800c ]

The fastest speed feat for Saitama and Garou were also capable of destroying a bunch of galaxies not visible from earth.

Yeah this single panel works as both Garou's biggest strength feat and speed feat. That’s funny. 

Given that the farthest star we can see with our naked eye is V762 Cas in Cassiopeia at 16,308 light years away, and given a time frame of about 10 seconds. 

The explosion must have traveled 8,154 light years in 10 seconds at 25 trillion times the speed of light. [ 25,732,800,122.677c ]

25 trillion times light speed is impressive and great and all..….but August is a flash. 

On multiple occasions, Godspeed has been stated to be faster or on par with the Flash. Such as when a Mind-controlled Godspeed fought Flash. 

Or Just Fighting Barry Alone, with Barry stating he is faster. He was so much faster than Barry that Barry ran away in order to recoup.

Godspeed has also fought Barry, Wallace and Avery all at once. 

He is also referred to as the 8th fastest DC character in the DC Universe. 

And consistently gives Barry a run for his money. 

It's safe to say he scales to 19 Tredecillion times the speed of light through Planck Time Scaling that we calculated last time.

He also has several immeasurable speed scaling feats from Superman. Given from the speed ranking given by DC , he is at least faster than Shazam, who can casually travel through time under his own speed to the rock of eternity.

The rock of eternity has consistently been stated to be outside of time and space , and Shazam very consistently flies there. 

He should also downscale from Wally West, who could also run…faster than the speed force….you know? The concept of speed? Wally West was faster than speed itself. 

Summary for speed : 

Godspeed : 19 Tredecillion c - Immeasurable

Cosmic Garou : 50 Trillion c 

So the difference is anywhere from 380 Octillion times difference to a possibly infinite difference. 

Skill:

Godspeed is able to fight against the Flash Family and is one of the few, if not the only, flash to be able to exist at 2 places at one time. Not even Barry could do that.

 

But Garou is an actual martial artist with years of experience in the field.

Godspeed is more experienced with his powers , but Garou is more experienced in fighting. 

Stamina:

Garou has pretty good stamina. He was able to regenerate ( over an unknown period of time ) from getting stabbed in the stomach. 

Godspeed should scale directly to Wally , who vibrated for 10 days straight. 

And has even been stated to have Infinite stamina. 

Experience and Intellect:

There isn't too much to say in this section. Garou is a trained martial artist and Godspeed was a Detective. 

Garou does have knowledge of the Universe, while Godspeed has had his powers for longer. 

Garou is the more experienced fighter and has more intelligence by technicality. 

Godspeed has more experience with his powers. 

Versatility, Haxes and gear:

Neither Godspeed or Cosmic Garou have any notable equipment or gear to contribute to the fight. What they do have is a lot of abilities. 

Let's start with Cosmic Garou.

First and foremost, he can manipulate energy and can manipulate matter (to a small degree) .

Which allows him to fire off massive energy beams and nuclear explosions.

Cosmic Garou can also teleport via portals. 

And can (at least try) send them away with portals. 

And even time travel.

And is even able to copy other's abilities….kind of. More of this in a bit. 

He too has rapid adaptation.

What about Godspeed? Well he obviously has all the different speed force shenanigans, including advanced techniques like phasing. 

Which allows one to control each individual molecule of their body. 

Time travel. 

Though without the cosmic treadmill, he cannot control it perfectly. 

One of his favorite abilities would have to be the Speed steal. With this ability he is able to take the Speed Force, or even the Kinetic Energy , out of someone. 

Even being able to freeze someone in place forever by permanently taking all their speed.

He even has one of the most advanced speedforce techniques, being able to be in 2 places at the same time.

Counters: 

How do Godspeed’s abilities clash with Cosmic Garou’s abilities? 

Cosmic Garou can teleport through portals , can this at least close the speed gap?  

Not really. Godspeed can just outrun it. Wally West early in his career, having just recently witnessed the "death" of the Flash and was very cautious in using the speedforce, managed to outrun Instantaneous Teleportation from the edge of the universe, running so fast that he ran faster than Planck Times. 

That practically means wherever Cosmic Garou teleports, Godspeed can just run there an instant later.

Energy manipulation is cool and all, but it isn’t really powerful enough to do anything more than maybe trip Godspeed one or two times. Not only is energy manipulation a very common phenomena in the DC Universe, such as with the Green Lanterns, but Godspeed can also manipulate the energy of the speedforce, meaning that energy projection doesn’t really amount to anything substantial.

Time travel? Please. Almost every Flash has done that.

Coping ability?

Now this is interesting.

How does Garou’s coping ability work? 

Garou is capable of memorizing an opponent's movements thereby allowing him to copy their fighting style/techniques after only seeing it once. He uses this to copy Saitama’s rapid adaptation ( due to his lack of a limiter ) to grow exponentially in power. 

Can Garou copy Godspeed’s abilities? 

Godspeed draws his powers from the speedforce. They are not really his natural abilities. Tapping into Godspeed’s abilities means tapping into the speedforce. So that brings up the bigger question.

Can Garou tap into the speedforce with his copying abilities and universal knowledge? What even is the speed force? 

The Speed Force is a cosmic extra dimensional energy source in the DC Multiverse symbolizing the concept of all speed and motion in the entire omniverse. It exists above the multiverse which drives time forward. 

It exists in every dimension, every universe at every time. It exists above the multiverse. 

It's unlikely that Garou can tap into something of this magnitude. He can control universal forces like Gravity and Radiation, nothing like the multiversal nature of the speed force. Universal knowledge isn't much compared to the many layers of infinite speed force. 

 What if Garou copies Godspeeds’ strength and speed like how he did Saitama, or rapidly adapt to Godspeed? 

He could potentially do that. However….Godspeed can just steal the speedforce out of Garou. All he needs is a tap. 

We've seen the examples. 

If Godspeed is generous, he'll just take his speed force. 

If Godspeed is polite, he'll just take his speed. 

If Godspeed is feeling efficient, he'll kill him instantly. 

If Godspeed is being petty, he can take all of Garou's speed permanently, leaving him a statue. 

What if Garou enters into the speedforce?

This might actually be Garou’s worst option. First of all, it doesn’t help him win the fight. He is far too inexperienced to navigate the speedforce, and Godspeed can also enter the speed force.

More dangerously though, he doesn’t have an anchor. 

Anchor? What does that mean? 

An emotional anchor that ties you back to your universe. Without it you'll be left drifting into the speedforce forever , with no means of escape.  

Max Mercury and Jesse Quick , despite both being experienced speed force users, had no anchor and were left trapped in the speedforce. 

And it starts breaking down your body at a subatomic level , Atom by atom. 

This all basically leads to Garou getting torn apart by the speedforce. 

Final Verdict: 

Godspeed:

Cosmic Garou:

If you read everything, the answer should be pretty clear cut. 

Over 1.2 Billion times strength difference? 

Over 380 Octillion times speed difference? 

I mean….how much can you even do against that?

Godspeed can win practically any and every scenario possible here. He is strong enough to one-shot,  fast enough to take him out before he can react , and can counter anything Garou can throw at him. 

Godspeed can counter any and all scenarios that Garou’s copy ability offers him. 

Like…..all of them. Every single one of them. From tapping into the source of his powers to just running away , Godspeed can account for all of that.  To be fair that's to be expected , Godspeed has the massive experience edge here , but still.

The chance of Cosmic Garou actually winning is so minute that it practically rounds down to 0. Godspeed just is too strong, too fast, and has 

Cosmic Garou is a threat, and he isn’t to be underestimated. 

But Godspeed is a genuine threat to an entire family worth of multiversal threats. 

He is on a whole different wavelength.

That was a fun blog. Cosmic Garou was really fun to look into and Godspeed was just crazy. I would love to cover Saitama again, just I don't have an opponent that I really like with him. 

As for Flash characters , they are 100% getting a return.
