Superboy (Detective Comics) VS Deku (Boku no hero academia)
Happy Birthday Badboyhalo! Today we have our first anime/manga fight , I was planning to save those for later in the year , but i can make exceptions. It's also the anniversary of hog hunt tommorrow. If you have not , go check it out. A year later and the animation is still phenomenal and still my favorite of Sadist's animatics.
So let's just jump into the fight because there is quite a bit here.
This was at one time my favourite Versus Match-up and I think it's time to finish it up.
Successors of the most powerful and important superheroes in their world (Superman and Allmight) in a world teeming with superheroes(Justice League of America and The World's hero association) . Both got their powers at a later age then usual (Jon realising his powers when he walked through fire and Izuku getting his powers from all might before he went to UA). Despite their overwhelming powers , they both were taught to fight with logic and heart(Superboy taught to fight smart by Superman and Izuku learning to use both intellect and power). They both have teammates (Robin and Bakugo) who appear the typical edgy anti-hero but they genuinely care for each other and they are affected by their actions despite their rocky start. Though they are capable fighters , they typically prefer fighting in groups.Throughout the course of the series , they eventually replace their mentors and became the greatest hero of their world.
Jonathan kent Vs Izuku midoriya
Superboy VS Deku
These two's powers are relatively simple compared to the versatility of ben 10 or the toon force of camp camp so this should be a more traditional fight in comparison.
So....
Let's get started!
Ground rules:
I'll be using Kid Jonathan vs Composite Izuku. That means no 16 year old Jon feats and I'll be using Izuku with both manga and anime feats. That way will be the fairest, a kid against a kid instead of you know a kid against Superman. DC is a much longer running series so I think this will be fine.
No outside help , base equipment allowed, which is just their standard gear. No superman force field , no Grenadier Bracers, Just standard suits , etc.
And I think thats should be all .
Let's get started.
Strength and Durability:
Who is stronger?
Lets start with Izuku. In all-might's fight against Nomu , he said he could Prime All-might could have defeated Nomu in 5 punches instead of 300, this implies that Prime All might is 60 times his current strength, so this could be a good starting point for Deku , we can multiply any feat he does by 60 to get the rough estimate of his maximum power. Yeah it's not really too accurate since All-might is a different case, having an injury that makes him weaker instead of inexperience, but for the high-ball , I'll give him this. Trust me , he'll need it.
His best feats would obviously be from the "final act", so let's start there. At 45% of one of all , he is capable of restraining Shigaraki , who should scale to current all-might . Current all-might can also s destroy a small part of a mountain in one hit and disperse a storm , again in one hit, which should put 45% deku around small mountain level if we high-ball him. At 100% , he supposely is around mountain level if we push it , being able to dislocate Shigaraki's jaw.
If we multiply the high end of mountain level by 60 to find prime Deku, we get roughly high mountain to island levels of power.
So very impressive, how about Superboy? What can Jon do?
He , along with his father , managed to punch off the eradicator's head. The eradicator should be around , if not slightly lower , than Superman's power level. In his first adventure with Robin , he managed to stun Lex Luthor and temporarily manage Kid Amazo. He has traded blows with Superman (However Superman was holding back.)
Then we start getting to his higher class strength feats. He temporarily held up to Kid amazo with the powers of the Justice League. He solo-ed an entire supervillian team (The Hangmen) who were overwhelming the teen titans ( A line up consisting of Robin, Beast Boy , Kid Flash , Starfire , Raven and Aqualad ) so fast the titans thought it was kid flash. He again later broke out of time-cage that trapped all the teen titans made by Time commander.
Now how impressive is all of that? Well him being able to keep up consistently against starfire and hold off kid amazo with the justice league should at minimum put him at planet busting level. He can go higher , but I dont need to put him higher.
That should already put him above Deku's island busting. So the early lead for physicality goes to Jon, what about speed?
Speed:
Who is faster ?
Deku has dodged explosions from Bakugo, sniper shots , Todoroki's ice , etc etc , which should put him at massively hypersonic. However , Jon is just way , way faster. He raced from the Moon to Earth in a few seconds, he's moved faster than Kid flash , he's caught a sniper bullet himself. He's broken out of a timecage when kid flash and starfire couldn't, he's fought with Starfire and a suppressed Superman. He scanned and found 4 frames of data in less than 10 seconds which Robin said would take a week. No beating around the bush here , Jon is faster. He is also more experienced in flight compared to deku.
Skills , experience, Intellect:
Here's when Izuku starts gaining advantages.
Firstly Jon is younger and less experienced in both real life and hero work. He should still be 10 which means he has been Superboy for around a year. Izuku is 16 with 3 years of experience in hero work.
Secondly , Izuku has better training. Jon has been trained slightly by Damian Wayne and Superman. And he does have some natural fighting skill in him , seeing his battle against the eradicator and Damian wayne. But you can say the same about Izuku. He's studied different superheroes , their abilities and weaknesses, he goes to school for training and gets trained by professionals, actively trains and practices and his mind is so sharp he made Bakugo fear him and Todoroki bring out his fire side to defeat him.
However for intellect it's a lot closer. Whilst Deku got top 4 for his midterms examination, Jon has feats of his own. He made a drone from krytonian technology for a science project , and has stunned damian wayne , a member of the batfamily , who are all genuines, with his intellect.
Gear and Abilities :
They have no gear worth noting since I removed them from the beginning of the battle.
So abilites....
Firstly Deku, when combining his float with air force ,he can practically fly. He has techniques such as smokescreen and Blackwhips, a sort of danger sense and Fa Jin, which allows him to store kinetic energy.
Superboy has the standard Superman powers , flight, heat vision, freeze breath , x-ray vision etc.
Jon's flight is still faster than deku's flight.
His x-ray vision is a phenomenal counter to Deku's smokescreen and Fa Jin won't increase his power enough to overcome Jon.
Deku has fought Todoroki, Jon's freeze breath isn't that much newer.
Izuku has blackwhips which are powerful , but Superboy's heat vision is just more powerful. These things burned Superman's back even when Superman was prepared and blasted back Wonder woman.
Superboy also has the ability to vibrate , shown in his fight alongside the teen titans. Not to mention his solar bomb, exerted when he is undergoing extreme amounts of stress. The weaker of these has taken out the teen titans , including starfire , even under the protection of Raven's magic and Kid Flash's speed force. The second time ,he overpowered the Teen titans , The titans of tommorrow and Superman all at once . And in the end , they still needed Savior's help to absorb the energy and time travel away. The second time , Jon did not even get knocked out despite only having minimal rest.
He should also have rapid regeneration, as seen with his father , Superman.
Overall:
Who wins?
I think I got it pretty clear that Jon is more powerful than Izuku, but Izuku still has a shot. Jon is more inconsistent, it is literally in his character . In his first story Superman brought him to the fortress of solitude to figure out more about Jon because Jon could injure Superman but got knocked out by falling from a tree.
So can Deku's greater experience, skill and Jon's inconsistency overcome Jon's raw power? Looking through the statistics , I don't think so.
While Deku is more skilled , Jon can make up for that with his far greater speed. Deku typically fights people with only one quirk , so the sheer versatility of Jon is going to put Izuku on the backfoot. Izuku is an all physical fighter, with whips and air blasts , that's just a green lantern but much much weaker. Jon has fought next to a green lantern before , this isn't much different for Jon.
Meanwhile how is Deku going to counter Jon's heat vision , or strength? That heat vision has cut through Jon's leg , there is no reason why it would not cut through deku as well. With his strength and his speed , he could potentially one shot deku. He one shotted Damian , someone who is far more skilled and experienced than Deku, ranked as the fourth most skilled member of the batfamily ranked under some of DC's best like Batman, Nightwing and Orphan. Jon is quite a bit faster and is more knowledgable about his abilites. His abilities are the same as Superman and so he is more aware of his abilites. Abilities such as heat vision , freeze breath , X-ray, These are all traditional Superman abilites with a lot of history backing them up. Meanwhile, the all for one quirk has been passed down over several generations and even now, new portions of the quirk is being revealed.
Yes, while superboys's powers should not be a large surprise to Izuku , neither will Izuku's powers .
And this is all under the assumption that Jon isn't skilled himself. He and Damian did fight back against Starfire , Aqualad and Kid Flash despite being outnumbered . He fought against damian, lex luthor, even gods and monsters like steppenwolf and doomsday.
There are other ways that Jon can beat deku. Deku Cannot breathe in space or underwater. Jon can vibrate straight through him, or just straight up nuke him with his strength or power.
Izuku can win. Use all his power and united state of smash him when he is off guard or when he's going through an inconsistent phase. It's more likely however, that Jon would just overpower him. He's grown far more consistent, and he's consistently shown to be a level above deku.
Deku has the skill and experience edge but Jon just has the raw power.
I think Jon has got this one. So....
Winner : Superboy ( Detective Comics)
This one was a fun one , I needed this after the giant of green lantern vs ben 10 and the rush of magneto VS omni-man, something more easy and simple. Also pretty easy , when laying out the stats , it's kind of obvious the difference in shear power. By the way I just realised i copied pasted Green Lantern VS Ben 10 incorrectly and the front part was repeated....that's gonna hinder that episode in the long run so...rest in peace. This is why you don't rush things .
I would definitely like to use another Boku No Hero Academia/My hero Academia character again, I really enjoyed the series. I think Deku deseveres another run at a battle...eventually..... And All might probably will have his own turn here. Superboy used to be my favourite DC Character, before he got aged up. For now I really have no bias to any DC Characters. This was my favorite match up for both of them , now I think they have better match ups ( Like miles , ms marvel , etc)
To my knowledge , nothing big is going to happen in May, so I am going to work on a big passion project. So....
And I'll work at SONIC speed to get it done in a FLASH.
Happy birthday Badboyhalo! Hope you guys enjoy the rest of April and have a spendid day. Let's see how the month plays out ay?
Bye Bye and have a good one.
